Project description

This project started in 2017 as a research on UAV base stations in collaboration with Tampere University (TUNI), formerly Tampere University of Technology (TUT). We were trying to make a proof of concept (PoC) of a UAV providing wireless coverage extension for a service area. In this PoC we used our own built Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) with microWave wireless technologies. The project was successful and we continued improving it by using more advanced wireless technologies – mmWave. Currently, we experiment with another UAV designs for our specific research requirements. At the same time, we work on other tasks involving UAVs as: modeling UAV distributions over an area, UAV mobility models, UAVs in edge computing scenarios. These topics allow us to colaborate with research groups from TUNI and Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN).
